art-behind-the-air-part-1Every business has a beginning. For Affairs Afloat Balloons, it started simply—with balloons and a love for transforming ordinary spaces into something memorable.

I’m Tammera Hollerich, founder of Affairs Afloat Balloons, and when I started, I had no idea where balloons would take me.

I just knew I loved the transformation.

There was something exciting about walking into an ordinary room, gym, ballroom, school, office or event space and imagining what it could become with a little air, color and creativity.

Learning the Craft

Over time, I learned that professional balloon décor is about much more than balloons. It’s color. Scale. Placement. Balance. Design. Timing. Logistics. And hundreds of little details most people never see.

Every event taught me something. I learned what worked—and sometimes what didn’t. I learned how different spaces behave, how colors work together, how to build for scale and how important preparation is when an installation has to be completed within a very specific window.

What started with balloons became a craft. And that craft eventually became a business.

The Art Behind the Air

Today, when you walk into an event, you see the finished installation. I see everything behind it. I see the planning that happened before we arrived. I see the team that loaded the vehicles, transported the materials and brought the design to life. I see the last-minute adjustments, the problem-solving and the years of experience that help us know what to do when something doesn’t go exactly according to plan. That is The Art Behind the Air. It’s everything you don’t see behind the finished photo.

Affairs Afloat Balloons was built one event, one client, and one balloon at a time. Over the years, we’ve had the opportunity to create décor for schools, universities, hospitals, businesses, nonprofits, community organizations and celebrations throughout North Texas. But no matter how large the installation becomes, the reason behind the work hasn’t really changed. We want people to walk into a space and feel something.

  • Excitement.
  • Celebration.
  • Pride.
  • Joy.
  • A sense that this moment matters.

Somewhere along the way, I realized something: We’re not just in the balloon business. We’re in the business of creating moments.

And after more than two decades, I still love watching an ordinary space become something people will remember.

Because it all started with a balloon.
